			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>v. Workpacking</strong><br />
Nama lain bagi workpack ialah proposal, atau nak mudah lagi kita sebut quotation. Workpack ni consist of technical workpack and commercial workpack. As a field engineer in this construction, we need to combine all these 4 items, manpower, equipments, material and consumable and convert them to money. Engineer need to make money as well dik.</p>
<p>Kenapa perlu ada workpack?<br />
Sebelum kita mendapat sesuatu tender atau contract dari client i.e Petronas, Shell, Exxon etc, kita perlu participate dalam tender exercise. Kita perlu submit kepada mereka technical dan commercial proposal, so client akan evaluate proposal ni. Once client approved, dan award contract pada kita, kita perlu execute project tersebut. Itu sebagai basic lah.</p>
<p>So how to prepare the workpack?<br />
All items above,  manpower, equipments, consumable and material must be listed out.</p>
<p><strong>1. Materials</strong><br />
Setiap project mesti ada drawings, tak kiralah GA drawings ka, P&#038;ID drawings ka, ISO drawings ka atau pun sketch drawings. Kalau tak ada drawings, kita perlu produce drawings. Dari pada drawings tersebut, kita akan derive semua material untuk sesuatu project. Ini lah yang dipanggil Material take off (MTO), masa sekolah dulu di sebut <em><strong>Bill of Materials</strong></em>, sama la nih benda nya. So, camana nak derive material ni? Kena belajar dan kenal fabrication and installation drawings. Ini pun akan mengambil masa yang lama untuk betul-betul master dalam bab drawings.</p>
<p><strong>2. Manpower</strong><br />
How many riggers? How many welders? How many scaffolder are required to complete the project? To solve this, we need to prepare the <strong>jobcard</strong>.</p>
<p><strong>3. Jobcard</strong><br />
Jobcard is time spent by a worker on each job. So kita kena detail satu persatu task yang worker ni perlu buat. Panjang nak cerita ni dik.. tapi at the end kita akan tahu berapa ramai worker yang kita perlu, dan berapa lama masa yang di ambil untuk complete kan project kita. Once kita dah tahu manning kita, secara automatic kita akan tahu equipments kita.</p>
<p><strong>4. Project Schedule</strong><br />
Setiap project mesti ada schedule, kalau takde schedule maka project tu boleh jadi project haram jadah, sebab kita tak tahu samada project kita ni akan rugi atau untung. Senang nak track progress. Kalau pandai Primavera will be advantage, kalau boleh buat guna MS Project pun sudah bagus, tapi kalau yang cap ayam tu guna MS Excel je haha. Project Schedule ni bagi sesetengah client is a must, kalau client yang kerek musti akan tanya hari-hari pasal schedule ni. Walau pun schedule ni biasanya planner atau scheduler yang buat, tapi as a field engineer you should know how to produce it and read it as well.</p>

<p><strong>5. S-Curve</strong><br />
Ada jobcard mesti akan ada schedule dan mesti akan ada S-Curve. Kena belajar lah how to do it.. senang je kalau tau</p>
<p><strong>6. Site Specific Procedure SSP</strong><br />
SSP ni, site specific procedure ialah written procedure untuk kita buat sesuatu job. Dan ini lah yang akan membezakan kita sebagai engineer dengan supervisory level kita yang berpengalaman 20-30 tahun di offshore tu. Imagine we are going to replace one big vessel at offshore platform. We need to know many things about this vessel, the weight, size, other specifications, crane access, pull in pull out, sling size, chain block size, temporary access and macam-macam lagi lah. No way out but we as a engineer have to face this. Your supervisors are not authorized to produce this procedure bro, the procedure must be written by field engineer. Tak kira lah macamana nak tahu cara dan procedure tersebut, kita mesti kena buat, kena pergi visit offshore, discuss dengan supervisors dan lain-lain dicipline. Not an easy job, and it will risk your life too :p</p>
<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;</p>
<p>Ok lah bro, once kita dah ada 4 items di atas, maka kita akan tahu berapa cost project kita, 1 juta? 10 juta? atau RM775.00 je <img src='http://www.eddyra.net/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' />   </p>
<p>Well, workpack kita akan di challange oleh client representative. Satu situation yang agak mencabar, basically client ni suka slash dan remove kita punya duit dari proposal kita, betul la kan kita nak buat duit banyak, dia nak cut cost.. so here we apply our negotiation skill lah. Dan di sini pun boleh berlaku isu corruption antara client and contractor. Aku biasa hadapi hal ni, &#8216;<em>eddy aku nak 20K</em>&#8216; atau &#8216;<em>bagi aku laptop satu</em>&#8216; &#8230; itu biasa bro. Ni cerita lama lah.. bukan di Malaysia, di Mongolia :p itu tak masuk lagi bab client suruh bayar KFC sebab nak celebrete birthday sendiri.. wakakaka pengikis punya client!! Birthday sendiri pun suruh contractor bayar kan..</p>
<p>Bila workpack dah approved by client, atau tender dah appraised, we as the engineer who prepare the workpack, need to execute the project ler.. so start from purchasing the materials, request manpower pool from manpower department, meeting with fabrication supervisor, with client and other parties.. </p>
<p>Client akan melalak setiap hari, bertanya kan progress. Apa progress untuk hari ni, apa plan for tomorrow dan bermula lah hidup kita akan sentiasa menerima call dari client, supervisors, suppliers, boss even from GM bertanya kan tentang project progress and issues. Yang best lagi kalau Dato yang empunya company akan directly call boss kita andai ada fuck-up hahaha.. biasa la tu bro. </p>
<p>Daily progress kena up date pada client. Kalau tak, client akan bising dan pot pet pot pet.. nasib tak baik akan ada email melayang layang sampai ke top management, pedih la telinga. Kalau dapat client representative yang bagus, alhamdulillah la, <strong>tapi kalau dapat client representative yang cap ayam dan bengong memang nasib lu la bro</strong>, ada jenis client representative ni yang kejar KPI, kejar nama dan pangkat.. berlagak nak mampus especially budak-budak engineer yang baru join client, macam haram bro peel mereka ni.. berlagak nak mampus sumpah seranah orang lain padahal knowledge ZERO! Kerja pun tak pandai mana, tapi bab maki hamun, sumpah seranah, hantar email perghh macam dah 30 tahun punya experiance bro.. Aku tengok senior engineer dia orang biasa-biasa je, professional dan cool jer. </p>
<p>Selama aku berhadapan dengan client reps ni,  Exxonmobil lah yang paling good dan professional, mungkin sebab experience mereka lah. Mudah dan tak banyak hassle. </p>
<p>Ok la adik-adik semua, apa yang aku tulis di atas ni berdasarkan pengalaman aku selama menjadi junior engineer, field engineer, operation engineer, base manager, workpack engineer dan project coordinator. Positions nampak tak sama tapi bagi aku takde banyak beza, sama je yang aku kena buat dari 1997 &#8211; 2012. Ada orang yang mampu bertahan, dan ada yang awal-awal lagi blah. Once we involve in this field, we already changed our life bro.. 24 jam perlu ON handphone and make ourselves available kalau perlu ke office, yard atau offshore. Offshore/onshore tu adalah national interest (petroleum la maksud aku), need to produce more oil and at the same time to protect the natural environment. So untuk menghadapi 2 keadaan tu, client akan push their partners/contractors to help them. Itu lah ceritanya..</p>

Adik-adik semua, untuk pengetahuan semua, subjects/syllabus yang korang belajar di sekolah dan di U korang tu tak semuanya pun akan di apply masa kerja. Lain lah kalau nak jadi cikgu atau lecturer mungkin banyak lah yang kena buka buku semula.. tapi jangan lemah semangat pulak, study tetap kena study dik untuk diri sendiri. </p>

<p><strong>i. Tools and equipments</strong><br />
OK sebagai junior engineer, masih green kata boss aku dulu, aku slow-slow belajar untuk bekerja. Belajar kenal equipments for fabrication, equipments untuk installation. Ada 1001 jenis tools dan equipments dalam construction ni dikkk.. yang mana satu welding machine, air compressor, generator, cutting torch, air tugger, spanners, chain block etc. Setiap satu equipment tu bermacam-macam types dan specificationnya, di mana nak guna dan bila nak guna dan bagaimana nak operates nya. Kena tahu semua tu, walau pun kita mungkin sepanjang career tak sekali pun akan operate benda tu.</p>
<p>Sebagai welder contohnya, for sure mereka tahu menggunakan welding machine. Tip top mereka ni duk weld pipe dan structure, mereka memang pro dalam welding. Secara practicalnya, memang mereka boleh buat dan kita sebagai engineer ni pada kebiasannya tak mampu nak challange mereka. Kenapa kita perlu tahu sedangkan kita tak akan operate welding machine? Sebab kita engineer, engineer tak boleh jadi bodoh dan diperbodohkan oleh orang lain. Dalam career kita nanti, kita bakal berdepan dengan suasana di mana hanya ada kita yang akan berhadapan dengan sesuatu masalah tu.. dan kita sebagai engineer perlu selesaikannya, bukan orang lain, bukan welder kita dan bukan orang bawahan kita. Kena ingat tu dik. </p>
<p><strong>ii. Fabrication materials</strong><br />
Aku juga belajar dari zero, kenal materials for fabrication. Yang mana satu studbolt, yang mana satu nuts. Studbolt ada berbagai size, material type, thread etc. Dah tau studbolts kena tau pula spanners pulak, spannar pulak dari sekecil-kecil spanner hingga lah sebesar pengayuh sampan tu. Bayangkan. Semua material aku kena tahu, pipe size, pipe rating, pipe materials, pipe entah apa kejadah lagi. Fittings untuk pipe, flanges, elbows, olet, access fittings dan 1001 jenis, type dan specification of that materials bro..</p>
<p><strong>iii. Manpower </strong><br />
Perlu tahu apa job description untuk rigger, welder, fitter, NDT technician, blaster painter etc. Part ni tak payah sangat, banyak turun visit kat site cepat sikit faham.</p>
<p><strong>iv. Consumables</strong><br />
Kalau masa sekolah dulu, lecturer sebut indirect material. Ni la benda nye dik.. electrode, sand paper, paints materials, grinding disk, cutting disk etc. Berlambak-lambak nak kena kenal dan ambil tahu. Sekarang ni pun, aku sendiri kadang-kadang tanya anak buah nama barang-barang ni.. hehe teruk betul.</p>
<p><strong>4th step &#8211; Apply your knowledge</strong><br />
Untuk pengetahuan adik-adik di luar sana, process belajar tentang 4 perkara di atas memang mengambil masa, bukan satu malam atau satu tahun. Aku sendiri sampai hari ni tak tamat belajar pun lagi, ada je benda baru dalam industry ni. Yang penting, kena teruskan belajar dan tanam sikap ingin tahu, jangan menyombong yang kita ni seorang engineer. Banyakkan habis masa duduk dengan construction dan fabrication crew tu, interview mereka dan tengok cara mereka bekerja. Memang dia orang tengok kita sebagai fresh engineer ni, berbulu la, tapi thats what we have to accept it.. dulu aku pun gitu jugak lah.. kena kelentong tu biasa ler.</p>

<li>To be responsible for implementation of Condition Based Maintenance (CBM), Machinery Diagnostics and Vibration Analysis at client sites. </li>
<li>To lead a group of technicians in conducting CBM, root cause analysis, plant performance assessment and related activities.</li>
<li>To prepare and present periodic reports to clients.</li>
<li>To formulate, review and manage targeted Key Performance Indicators.</li>
<li>To periodically communicate with our Principal Engineers in Australia.</li>
<li>To constantly review and improve work methods.</li>

<p><strong>Requirements:</strong><br />
Recognised Degree in Mechanical Engineering</p>

<li>Vibration Analyst Category II certified </li>
<li>Minimum of 3-4 years working experience involving Rotating Machinery</li>
<li>Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills</li>
<li>Excellent interpersonal and communication skills</li>
<li>Knowledge of some CBM software and application</li>
<li>Must be familiar with MS software</li>
<li>Able to work independently with minimum supervision</li>

<p>OK di bawah ni antara position untuk construction crew di offshore. Aku copy and paste je lah, malas la nak translate to Bahasa. Specification ni diambil dari Shell Sarawak Berhad. Aku kira requirementnya agak tinggi sikit dari Petronas.. tapi boleh la buat perbandingan.</p>

<p>CONSTRUCTION SUPERINTENDANT<br />
Shall possess a recognized diploma in Engineering or equivalent OR<br />
Shall have at least 15 years construction experience in the Oil and Gas Industries with not less than 8 years in similar Supervisory role<br />
And at least 3 years shall be engaged as Construction Superintendent on WORKBARGE</p>
<p>CONSTRUCTION SUPERVISOR<br />
Shall possess a recognized diploma in Engineering or equivalent OR<br />
Shall have at least 12 years construction experience in the Oil and Gas Industries with not less than 5 years in similar Supervisory role<br />
Of which, 8 years shall be on supervisory role<br />
And at least 3 years shall be engaged as Construction Supervisor on WORKBOAT</p>
<p>SHIFT SUPERVISOR<br />
Shall possess a Technical Certificate on Construction or equivalent OR<br />
Shall have at least 8 years construction experience in the Oil and Gas Industries with not less than 3 years shall be on supervisory role</p>
