Malaysia’s first astronaut , Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor, an orthopedic surgeon and university lecturer from Kuala Lumpur, will take off for the International Space Station (ISS) from Russia’s Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on Wednesday afternoon.

Sheikh Muszaphar will fly together with the new ISS crew commander, U.S. astronaut Peggy Whitson, and Russian cosmonaut Yuri Malenchenko, will also become the first Muslim to fly into space during the holy fasting month of Ramadan.

He was chosen from 11,275 Malaysians from all walks of life who had applied for the program in 2003. Around 98 percent of (the 854 candidates) are under 40, and around 77 percent of the candidates have a bachelors degree, only two percent are pilots while 62 percent work in the private sector and 20 percent are civil servants.

    National Space Agency punya director-general, Mazlan Othman keluarkan stat tersebut.

    Tapi dua tiga hari ni orang duk bercerita pasal ‘astro Not’ ni.. apa cerita ni.. ada hidden agenda ke apa ni..
