KUALA LUMPUR: The MIC today told People’s Progressive Party president Datuk M Kayveas to stop making comments about the Indian community and Tamil schools.
Its vice president Datuk S. Sothinathan said this was because he had never been serious in championing the cause of the community but was only interested in making statements to further his own ends.
“Although the PPP is a component party in the Barisan Nasional, he never brought up problems faced by Indians.
Datuk S. Sothinathan“
Sothinathan said Kayveas, who is also deputy minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, was fond of making media statements about the community to gain popularity and to portray himself as their “hero”.
He was responding to remarks by Kayveas, aired over the prime news segment of the ntv7 televison channel, that the Indian community in the country was lagging behind and many national type Tamil schools had closed since the nation gained independence 50 years ago.
“Indirectly, he is saying the MIC has not done anything for the Indians when we have done a lot for the community,” said Sothinathan, who is also Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment.

comment or no comment they think they do us a big favour..they forget tht actually common peoples are voting for them and by right they should work for the people..if not nobody knows who they are…not only indians but malay also many leave behind esp if u dont have smbdy in politic to back u..
I speak personally my own thoughts. Politicians talk for reason, I always believe myself that there is always something behind, they don’t tell you.
Ironic is the attitude of this politicien if you see how he moves, he is flash these days, and have a strong urge to become a full minister. so many currently appear to promote “parties”
fashion and entertainment events its tattler publicity rather then sweat.Royal politiciens is the new trend.
But if you must look at the entertainment side seriously.
Then thumbs up to Effendys wife Tiare and himself they have a life of their own not clinging to publicty or being “political correct”.
